Een best wel heftige date

It all begins with a rather awkward date. The nervous Sander (played by Tobias Kersloot) met the extroverted Alex (played by Yuani Blindenburg) via Grindr. They arrange to meet at a restaurant, but on that first date, it quickly becomes apparent that there is no chemistry. Alex decides it is better to cut the date short.

But then the evening suddenly changes. Three armed men raid the restaurant, and due to a hostage situation, Sander and Alex are forced to stay together longer. In this way, they manage to strike up a conversation after all, and the extreme circumstances force the two to be honest sooner than usual. And so, Alex and Sander discover that, despite their different backgrounds, self-confidence, and openness, there is still a curiosity about each other.

Amsterdam Empire is the latest Dutch crime series from Piet Matthys, Nico Moolenaar, and Bart Uytdenhouwen, the creative trio behind Undercover, Ferry, Ferry: The Series, and Ferry 2. In Amsterdam Empire, Dutch-born Famke Janssen (X-Men) plays her first Dutch spoken role. Alongside Janssen, Elise Schaap and Jacob Derwig also star in the series.

Forty-year-old Edwin is a control freak, a wimp, and, moreover, the ultimate scapegoat at the high school where he works. His life is in a downward spiral: his wife has left him and his daughter wants nothing more to do with him.

When he is also bullied by both colleagues and students—and his boss denies him a promotion because of his weak personality—he has had enough. He enlists the help of a brutal, boorish gym teacher to regain his masculinity. From that moment on, Edwin decides to strike back hard. What follows is a bizarre situation in which the students are no longer in charge of the teachers, but completely reverse the roles, and the adults become the bosses of the children.
